Welcoming new cross stitch designer: Tiny Modernist
Creative Poppy is very happy to welcome a new cross stitch designer: Tiny Modernist. Cheryl, Tiny Modernist's young Canadian designer, seeks to give a cheerful and contemporary dimension to her needlework, using a graphic style and selecting interesting topics that make her designs truly unique. The patterns are easy to stitch, with a reduced but sophisticated color palette, making them accessible to all. We love the modern feel of these designs. What about you you?

Biscornu Come-back
Biscornu are a strange little shape. The first cross stitch patterns originated in France, hence their name, so tricky to pronounce in English. It actually literally means strange shape in French. But they are a lovely shape, all curves with a little hollow in the middle, almost small enough to nestle into your hand. The curved biscornu form gives a dimensional effect to the stitching. And they are fun to make too, with no sewing involved. We see a trend: Biscornu are making a comeback. It's a telling sign that Tiny Modernist should be including them in her collection. Actually even releasing a new one every month. Keep posted!
Featured below is a biscornu straight out of the Nevada desert, with pretty colors and a fun design.

Next is a Peacock design, its style and colors a bit evocative of the Arts & Crafts period.

About to take off
Exquisite stitching and bold colors:
Citrus and wine, an interesting combination of cool and fresh colors. The particular charm of this pillow is that matching colors are used for both the stitched part of the cushion, as well as the bands of printed fabric that frame the work.
The stitching is beautiful too, with a life-like dragonfly looking about to take off, with work on its wings particularly exquisite.
