"Biscornu beauty: If you love pincushions and biscornus, then this delightful new colour chart designed by Faby reilly is a must for you. 'Apple blossom' is oh-so pretty and it's created with whole cross stitches and backstitch so it's relatively simple too."

Introducing the Easy-Mount Mini Bag

"biscornu method" for mounting the stitched pieces together. We're trilled here at Creative Poppy when there are new project ideas that we feel will add excitement to cross stitch. One of the reasons Biscornu shapes have become so popular is that they use the "biscornu method" for mounting the stitched pieces together. It's so neat and forms a beautiful line. There's actually no sewing involved, you just whipstitch your way along two lines of backstitch. And the beauty is, it's totally fool-proof. As you are following a precise number of stitches, you're guaranteed to end up with a perfect shape.

Easy Mount Mini-bagNow we are introducing a new fun shape in the form of an Easy Mount Mini-bag. We hope you will like it. We tried to perfect the shape so that the bag has a nice structure, fully lined but not complicated to put together. And using the "biscornu method" of assembly, yet again, it's fool-proof. Your bag will be the perfect shape, over and over again.

Perrette Samouiloff is the first to offer a pattern with this shape. We are hoping more designers will follow soon so that we will have a whole collection of mini bags: they are so cute and just perfect as gifts, filled in with little goodies.

Check out our free tutorial on our stitcher resource page and do send us a picture of your first bag (use our contact form to send it). Any comments or suggestions are also very welcome.

There are 4 lovely patterns that are designed to fit the bag. But they will also be perfect for many other shapes.

Primitive folk art inspiration with Barbara Ana

In total contrast to the patterns above, the gorgeous subdued earth tones of the Valdani artisan overdyed floss lend an antique feel to these new designs by Barbara Ana. We love the way the designer draws her inspiration in  primitive folk art, yet joyfully mixes old and new, adding her very own personal touch to these patterns.

A Swiss Poya pattern by Tam's Creations

Living so close to the mountains, it's no surprise that Tam should be inspired by her beautiful Alps. The Poya is the traditional ascent of the cows up to their summer pastures and the theme plays an important role in mountain folk art. Here Tam's Creations has transposed it into cross stitch.

This project might take a certain time to stitch but the end result is stunning.

How music and memories can inspire needlework projects...

Behind each of Kathy Bungard's designs (Gracewood Stitches) there's always an underlying story. Take the One May Night design, and discover how memories, fragrances and even moonlight inspired this amazing pattern. A cosy home, a happy heart

Here are two new patterns from designer Gail Bussi (Rosebud lane). We like the way she focuses on the simple joys of life.

You'll enjoy stitching both pieces which involve a little bit of challenge (check out those intricate lace-lake doilies) but extremely rewarding once completed. The "little love nest" will make a lovely housewarming present for a young couple or family.

New pattern from Gracewood stitches

For her new design entitled Hope, designer Kathy Bungard has drawn her inspiration from a poem by William Cowper, selecting a beautiful extract "Sometime a light surprises". We like the way she transposed the words and ideas of the poem into colors and shapes.
