Refined and colorful, a stitcher's delight! Check out Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin's latest designs Cross stitching is all about detail and that's what keeps designer Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin happy. When she designed her "Spring in the garden" biscornu, not only did she very carefully pick her colors, as you would a bunch of flowers, but she also decided to stitch her creation on a slightly iridescent Aida, with mother-of-pearl filaments running through the weave. When she made her "Rose hearts scissor case", a contemporary interpretation of an old fashioned rose garland, she chose a tiny pink gingham motif that coordinates with the green gingham heart of her design. Finally, when she designs her popular Red monochrome series, you can trust that she will use her favorite "nuanced" red red floss that adds color and life to her design. "Heart and roses" Scissor case and Scissor fob, designed by Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin. "Spring in the garden" Biscornu, designed by Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin. Scissor case and Needle book, "red monochrome" series, designed by Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin The "Red Monochrome" Scissor Case an Needle book are the latest addition to Marie-Anne's very popular Biscornu (serving as a pin cushion) and coordinated Scissor fob. You can now collect them all! >> see more patterns by Marie-Anne Réthorêt-Mélin ____________________________________________________________________________________ A new free tutorial: how to make a lined scissor case When we saw the refinement of Marie-Anne Réthoret-Mélin's scissor cases (she has 3 of those designs already) we asked her if she could provide step by step instructions for making a lined scissor case and she very gracefully accepted. Not only is it very detailed, with tips for limiting the amount of fabric that piles up close to the tip of the case, it's also extremely easy to make. Marie-Anne uses a simple backstitch contour and uses this to guide the assembly. So there is virtually no "sewing", only simple whipstitch. These instructions are free for you to download on our Stitcher resources page with any other free tutorials offered by our designers. There are 3 designs available for scissor cases so far, including the 2 shown above as well as the cheerful "Sunny colors" Scissor case, stitched with the luminous silky colors of DMC's satin floss.
