Cross stitch - the slavic way
One of the most amazing things about cross stitch, is that it is an activity beloved the world over. We cannot think of a country where there aren't any stitchers passionately working on their projects, stitch by stitch. And we find it all the more amazing when a designer, in a country at war, chased from her home town by intensive shelling, manages despite her terrible circumstances to continue designing, sustained probably by her passion for needlework. We therefore proudly present by Ukrainian designer Kateryna, this tribute to cross stitch inspired by the folklore of her homeland.

Meet Baba Yaga
Ukrainian designer Kateryna (Stitchy Princess) is ever fascinated by her homeland's legends and specifically the character of Baba Yaga, a witch sometimes evil, sometimes kind, who lives in the magic forest. Her latest pattern portraits her riding her broom, in the company of her cat. Two owls look on, unperturbed.

New Tales of Baba Yaga
Present throughout East European folklore, and particularly in her native Ukraine, Baba Yaga is one of Kateryna's favorite caracters, depicted in numerous designs. An elderly witch, ugly and bony legged, enigmatic and unpredictable, alternatively really evil, or maternal, kind and helpful to the trouble hero.
