New pictures of the Victorian Lady
We've just received from Shannon Christine Wasilieff some lovely pictures of the Victorian Lady, with amazing beading details. We just love the way the flowing satin is embellished with golden highlights as well as the attention to detail such as the lamposts decorated with Christmas garlands.
She is stitched on 32 count Crystal Sprite by Picture This Plus Fabrics, which is an opalescent soft purple.

Old fashioned Christmas
How about getting rid of all the glamour and glitter and returning to the simple joys of Christmas? When each child only received one but - oh so treasured - toy, when Christmas trees were simply lit with candles, and when the family would gather around the chimney place in front of a warm fire.
Designer Faby Reilly captures those simple joys of Christmas in these two lovely projects with the same centre piece featuring a Victorian Christmas scene.
The first pattern is an ornament that stands or can be hung.

New from Perrette Samouiloff, a series of children taking and bath and getting ready for bed. The characters are extra cute. Check out the child in the bathtub, or the brother and sister clutching their plush toys. Mix and match these designs to personalize bathroom items (a child's bathrobe, terry-towels) or bedroom deco. The two scenes on the left will make lovely room plaques.
You can select the background color of you choice as demonstrated in the picture on the right.

Designer Perrette Samouiloff is in the spotlight with this beautiful book published by Nihon Vogue - Japan. The book is a series of portraits of needlework designers photographed in their home (mostly Japanese and French designers). As far as we know its only published in Japanese but the pictures speak for themselves.

All Creatures Great and Small
New from Barbara Ana Designs!
When designer Barbara Ana set out to stitch a sampler illustrating these lovely verses, little did she know how far this would take her! There are more than one hundred different animals and various items in this extraordinary piece.
This sampler is certainly large in terms of size, but an easy, pleasant stitch, one item at a time. A bit addictive even. You'll find you want to finish one motif and get the next started straight away. The reward will definitely be worth the challenge!

Also new from Barbara Ana Designs, a charming new pattern that is stitched in a single color of floss. The fabric has been stained so as to give it a vintage feel. You can also make this design a unique piece by using you own favorite color, or overdyed thread. Or even "colour in" all the different parts of the design.

Tender Heart
If you like samplers, take a look at Polly Kirby. Designed by Barbara Ana in the manner of an antique, it devotes a large part to the carefully chosen words. We love the beautiful faded colors mixing turquoise and brown.

Here comes a messenger
New for Christmas by Barbara Ana Designs. This messenger has a little surprise for us!
|
Christmas Joy on a green background
Susan R. kindly sent us a picture of her latest project, a beautiful version of Barbara Ana's Chrismas Joy on green linen.
In the original piece stitched by Barbara Ana on Vintage Country Mocha from Zweigart, the white motifs blend softly in the background and the red motifs stand out by contrast.
In Susan's piece, the motif is stitched on green linen which emphasizes the white motifs in the background and the design turns out overall quite different. Below are the two versions side by side for you to compare. Aren't they both lovely? Congratulations Susan for stitching such a beautiful piece!
|
If you too have stitched an interesting variation on one of Barbara Ana's designs, do send us your pictures so we can share them with everyone. Many thanks!

Welcoming new designer Shannon Christine Wasilieff
We are pleased to welcome Shannon Christine Designs on Creative Poppy's website, designs by Shannon Christine Wasilieff.
Shannon is Canadian but first started designing for English needlework magazines.
It is no secret, Shannon is a hopeless romantic. And this is precisely what we love about her designs. The designer follows her heart, drawing very feminine models with a precious feel, adding detail, embellishments, seemlessly combining needlework and beadwork.
Romance
We love Shannon Christine's unique rococo boudoir style and the precious feel of these love letters combining cross stitch and beading.

A ride on the merry-go-round

A Koala to cross stitch
You won't come across a koala everyday, especially such a cute cross stitch pattern. This one is watching us with its big soft eyes and an air of surprise.
What really makes this model of Tam's Creations stand out is its unique composition: the stitching involves a combination of a multitude of mini cross stitch patterns which create the koala picture as a whole. The effect is striking. This model is part of the Patches collection by Tam's Creations which includes a variety of animal portraits, each with their unique character and all made of mosaics-like motifs.

New: Swatchables by Gracewood Stitches
What's a Swatchable? Like a musical theme that is repeated with variations with within a musical piece , the Swatchables are based on a main motif which is repeated in various forms and can be extended in various directions.
This one is called Rondo and is reminiscent of old terra cotta tiles.
The beauty of this cross stitch project is that you can extend the pattern at will and "color in" any parts of the design to make it totally unique. Do send us pictures of your stitched piece and if they are published you'll receive a new chart of your choice as a gift from us.

My true love sent to me... and more for Christmas by Lesley Teare
The 12 days of Christmas, have inspired many a designer. We must say however that we are particularly impressed Lesley Teare's interpretation in cross stitch of this old Christmas carol. The design seems to capture all the poetry of the song's mysterious first verse.
