What a treat to cross stitch Samantha Purdy's patterns, with a streamlined, contemporary look, yet full of evocative details, where just two small windowpanes already half covered in snow can suggest so much.
We also love the designer's final touch with a band of vintage trimming to evoke the thick layer of fallen snow.

On a one-horse open sleigh
Perrette Samouiloff's Snow in town is a gorgeous Christmas chart with rows of snow covered houses, children on skis, sleighs and skates with little dogs chasing after them, and even a horse sleigh. The town is totally transformed by the cover of fresh snow and there is an amazing feeling of warmth and softness.
The pattern was formerly available as a mystery chart. Subscriptions are closed but the can purchase the full pattern.

Chinese lanterns
The Physalys bears cheerful orange fruit in Autumn. Designer Faby Reilly skillfully depicts in cross stitch the puffy lanterns housing the little round fruit. One of the lanterns has already disintegrated into its lace like shape (pictured right and worked in Gold metallic). The flowers are thus known in French as "Amour en cage" or Love in a cage.
The pattern is part of the designer's delightful year-round collection of needlework flowers, one for each month of the year, the Anthea collection.

Buttons, sorted by harmony of colors are stitched onto a pretty cross stitch frame. You can create as many of these little decorative boards as you wish, varying floss and fabric colors to match your assortments of colors, here white floss on honey toned linen.

This time our Dreaming girl is all dressed in autumn colors, with an orange butterfly motif on her sweater, ready for a walk in the woods. She is so absorbed she is becoming part of the forest landscape, her head crowned with acorns, fallen leaves and mushroom, with deer antlers growing out of her head.

Fairy Dew
This sampler has a lovely story, as told by Elaine, Galliana's designer. As a child, her Mum would point to the dew in the garden and would explain how spiders spun magical webs which caught dew sprinkled by fairies. A witch named Agatha lived nearby in the woods and would collect the precious dew, then... (check pattern details for the rest of the story).
