Simple pleasures of Autumn
We love the clean, minimalist and contemporary style of the young designer.
With Samantha Purdy, capture the authentic pleasures of the season, in cross stitch:
... the pleasure of walking in the woods with a friend as leaves turn to gold.
|
... the pleasure of warming your hands on a steaming hot cup of apple cider.
|
... the pleasure of cooking a pot of delicious home-made soup with freshly harvested vegetable.

We are publishing some of Monique Bonnin's wonderful vintage postcard cross stitch designs in download format.
Here is one of our favorite featuring a lighthouse and incoming storm. We love the "hand painted photograph" colors and the dramatic effects of the waves breaking onto the rocks.

Stitching with nature's colors
We must admit, at Creative Poppy we have a particular fancy for overdyed and multicolor threads. And there is no better season to enjoy those colors than autumn, when the splendid colors of foliage invite us to a festival of colors. If you enjoy cross stitching with overdyed or variegated floss, such as DMC Color Variations, Classic Colorworks or Dinky Dyes Silk, to name just a few, you might be interested to check out the following link:

Tam's Creations welcomes a new visitor
Here comes the deer, in Tam's Creations unique series of animals in "patches", a clever mix of color mini motifs which combine to form the shape and figure of an animal.
In deer-in-patches, the designer captures the grace of the shy animal as it suddenly realizes it's been observed.

Autumn Sampler by Barbara Ana
Although there are many elements of a classical sampler, this piece is also full of surprises, as is always the case with Barbara Ana's patterns! We love the beautifully balanced composition and the rich, warm autumn colors.

The wind was a nor'wester, blowing squally off the sea
As in Stevenson's poem, the little ship is battling strong winds and hurling waves. This is a little gem of a needlework project, and it's perfect on a biscornu shape that gives extra dimension to the waves. A new cross stitch design by Faby Reilly.

Grow you own vegetable patch
We were delighted to receive this new pattern by Perrette Samouiloff because it triggered so many project ideas. Each little motif is easy to place according to your own constraints, depending what you want to stitch. You can make a recipe book cover, or space out the motif on a shopping bag (great for the farmer's market!). If you've got little ones around, you can stitch different baby bibs and place mats (they will all fight for the carrots!). Or you could stitch it as it is, beautiful in any case.
