Childhood on the Farm
This Sampler tells the story of Twisted Oak Farm, as seen through the eyes of 9 year-old Sadie Woods. We love the rustic feel, the slightly derelict barns, the intriguing symbols and trees of life and the little girls holding hands.

We received a query from a stitcher who wanted to customize this sampler for a wedding anniversary. Not only did Barbara Ana supply dates, but a whole set of alphabets so you can now customize any text, dates and initials and record lives of your loved ones in cross stitches. Think weddings, anniversaries or even a tribute to some forebears of yours.

Girls just wanna have fun. And why not?
Brand new release by Barbara Ana, taking us on a new journey, away from it all. Guess who offered a ride?

Sisterhood, celebrated in stitches
Picture those little girls as you stitch, two sisters, close in age, maybe twins, sitting side by side with their work on their lap. They pick their yarns from the same sewing box. Each one is inspired by what the other is stitching, yet determined to do her own thing. Ideas flow, more motifs are cross stitched....
When completed, the two sisters' samplers are assembled into a single one, a lovely idea by Barbara Ana.

A vision of the World, stitch by stitch
New by Barbara Ana, an exceptional Sampler!
Framed within the King James' Bible quote at the top of this Sampler is a vision of paradise, with celestial angels and shining planets and stars. Down below are the animals, and a profusion of plants and fruit. Adam and Eve stand under the Apple tree.
Barbara Ana offers her vision of an abundant world and the fateful moment Eve hands Adam the forbidden fruit.

December quiz: and the winners are...
Congratulations to Susan H. who found the right answer to our quiz question:
"How many birds are there in Barbara Ana's 'All Creatures Great and small' Sampler"?
If you count the weathercock, there are indeed 23 birds in the sampler, including blackbirds, owls, hens and chicks, and even a stork. Veronique B. came a close second. All winners received their Creative Poppy vouchers to spend on our website.

All Creatures Great and Small
New from Barbara Ana Designs!
When designer Barbara Ana set out to stitch a sampler illustrating these lovely verses, little did she know how far this would take her! There are more than one hundred different animals and various items in this extraordinary piece.
This sampler is certainly large in terms of size, but an easy, pleasant stitch, one item at a time. A bit addictive even. You'll find you want to finish one motif and get the next started straight away. The reward will definitely be worth the challenge!

Come little bird, settle on my hand
Also new from Barbara Ana Designs, a charming new pattern that is stitched in a single color of floss. The fabric has been stained so as to give it a vintage feel. You can also make this design a unique piece by using you own favorite color, or overdyed thread. Or even "colour in" all the different parts of the design.

Tender Heart
If you like samplers, take a look at Polly Kirby. Designed by Barbara Ana in the manner of an antique, it devotes a large part to the carefully chosen words. We love the beautiful faded colors mixing turquoise and brown.

Here comes a messenger
New for Christmas by Barbara Ana Designs. This messenger has a little surprise for us!
|
Christmas Joy on a green background
Susan R. kindly sent us a picture of her latest project, a beautiful version of Barbara Ana's Chrismas Joy on green linen.
In the original piece stitched by Barbara Ana on Vintage Country Mocha from Zweigart, the white motifs blend softly in the background and the red motifs stand out by contrast.
In Susan's piece, the motif is stitched on green linen which emphasizes the white motifs in the background and the design turns out overall quite different. Below are the two versions side by side for you to compare. Aren't they both lovely? Congratulations Susan for stitching such a beautiful piece!
|
If you too have stitched an interesting variation on one of Barbara Ana's designs, do send us your pictures so we can share them with everyone. Many thanks!
