Life's just a .... basket of cherries
Designer Marie-Anne Rethoret loves life, loves cherries and loves stitching. The result is a cheerful sampler with gorgeous colored cherries. There is a tiny neat little basket at the top and various borders and mini motifs framing the alphabet where each letter is adorned with some cherries. The design can be stitched in two ways, either following the original layout, or creating your own text using the letters.

Keeping traditions alive
In Central Europe, in the Alps, and many other regions of Europe, traditional costumes are still worn during summer dance and song festivals. The lucky ones will have inherited one of those magnificent costumes from a grandmother or more distant relative. For those unfortunate ones who didn't, it's worth taking a close look at these beautiful designs created with a great sense of detail to detail by cross stitch designer Iveta Hlavinova.

Two different artists, 2 different visions of the splendid purple iris
Wow! Just by coincidence we received, almost at the same time, two new patterns both featuring a splendid purple iris. So here is a chance to compare the designers interpretation of the flower, each of them showing their strong personal style and mastery of their chosen subject.
A ceramic plate inspired iris by Kathy Bungard for Gracewood Stitches
The focus is on the bold iris pattern, inspired from Korean enamelled plates. The background by contrast is a soft green, replicating the colour of the famous celadon enamel originating from the region. A tiny geometric motif adds extra refinement to the pattern.

A splendid art-deco style biscornu, new from Faby Reilly Designs

Welcoming a new designer, Iveta Hlavinova
It's almost like walking into a toy store! Check out this new and promising designer, Iveta Hlavinova, who finds her inspiration in the rich folk art tradition of her homeland, Slovakia. Slovakia is nested at the foot of the Carpathian mountains and there is a long tradition of woodcrafts, porcelain painting and of course needlework. Iveta brings a modern and personal touch, reinterpreting traditional motifs in fun and bright colored cross stitch designs. We just love those two elegant cats! There will be more to come soon, including for Iveta's favourite time of year, Christmas.
