Love Biscornu - Counted cross stitch pattern - Helga Mandl Designs Ever tried stiching a biscornu?

The word "Biscornu" does not seem to have a translation in English. It's a French
word meaning "a strange shape, with funny angles". Stitchers worldwide love this
little object even though they might have a little difficulty pronouncing it's name!

A "Biscornu" is in fact an 8-angle mini-cushion that's a lot of fun to make. It can be used as a pincushion, a hanging ornament, a keyring, a scissorfob and makes a very popular gift among cross stitchers!

Creative Poppy has devoted a brand new section to "Biscornus". Several designers have started series:

such as Helga Mandl's "biscornu of the month":

And last but not least, Marie-Anne Réthoret-Melin's very refined patterns such as

this red berry holiday ornament
and this monochrome biscornu that comes with a bonus coordinated scissor fob pattern.

A fabric calculator - with extensive features!

Fabric calculator computes size of design based on fabric count

Picture this: a fabric calculator with possibly the most extensive features ever:

   - Choice of 8 fabric counts, with options for stitching

     over one or two threads

   - Add extra allowances around the design as well as

     for framing or assembly

   - Get results in either inches or centimeters

   - Print out results

And best of all, use it directly with any counted cross

stitch chart sold on Creative Poppy's website to work

out how big your design will be, stitched on the fabric

    of your choice!

(Just click on "View size in my choice of fabric" in the product

    description)

Remember, this fantastic tool works also for any design, whether found on this site or not. Simply enter the width and height in stitches and it will compute the size of your design in your choice of fabric.

Just in time: last minute / quick stitching for Halloween!

Historical patterns
Take a look at these patterns. They would lend themselves well to redecorating projects in rooms where you want to keep a neutral, not too feminine look. And they make for great stitching with lots of intricate detail. Another avantage of these patterns is that they are monochrome which means you could stitch them in any color, on any needlework fabric, and match them with the colors of your interior.
